Our exchange partners may nominate their students through a link provided by email. The nomination details will include student’s full name, email address, period of study, academic major and intended field of study. 2 Online Application After being nominated, students will receive an email with a link for completing online application. Students will need to submit the following documents: · Copy of Passport · Copy of Transcripts · Study Plan · ID Photo Eligibility Student nominees are required to meet the following criteria: · enrolled as a full‐time student at one of our exchange partner institution · completed at least 1 semester at their home university · be in a good academic standing (no minimum GPA requirements) · have a sufficient level of proficiency in English or Korean (proof is not required) 3 Acceptance 5 Health Insurance The application screening process will be conducted at once after we receive all applications. Students can expect to receive a decision on their application within one month from the application deadline. After being accepted, students will receive an acceptance package which includes official acceptance letter and certificate of admission for visa purposes. All incoming exchange students are required have a health insurance that covers the period of their stay in Korea. Students will need to purchase a health insurance in their home country on their own and submit the certificate before coming to Korea. The insurance policy should cover sickness, accident and death. Student should also make sure to know how the health insurance works if any medical problems occur. Starting from March, 2021, all foreign students in Korea need to enroll in the national health insurance service. More details will be given at the stage of acceptance. 4 Visa 6 Tuberculosis Test Students will need to visit the Korean embassy or consulate in their home country to obtain a student(D‐2‐6) visa. Obtaining a student visa is required for every non‐Korean student wishing to study in Korea. Students are individually responsible to contact the nearest Korean embassy or consulate general in a timely manner for their own student visa. Visa fees may apply. In accordance with the requirements of the Korean Immigration Service, students are required to submit proof of an authorized tuberculosis test (through x‐ray, skin or blood) result that is taken within 45 days prior to their arrival in Korea. Students will be asked to attach the scanned copy of their tuberculosis test result on the online application later in February for Spring Semester and August for Fall Semester. DANKOOK UNIVERSITY STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM ACADEMICS Course List There are more than 3,000 courses offered at each campus every semester. The degree programs at Dankook University are basically taught in Korean and some courses are offered to domestic full-time students only. Therefore, we make a list of English-taught courses every semester that can be offered to exchange students. And students are advised to pick courses from this list only, unless they possesses a very high level of Korean proficiency. There is no prerequisite to attend courses in any year level too. However, students need to be certain about their capability to take those courses and determine at their own discretion. · Students can enroll in up to 19 credits per semester including the Korean language courses. There is no minimum number of courses required for exchange students, but taking at least 12 credits is recommended. ·There are number of Korean language courses offered to exchange students. There is no level test required prior to registration and students may choose courses based on their own judgment by looking at the syllabi if needed. Taking at least one Korean language course is recommended for your daily lives in Korea. · Students are not allowed take courses from more than one campus. Course Delivery Methods The course delivery methods will be decided depending on the nation's 4-tier social distancing system: Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Courses with more than 40 students enrolled will be taught online. Courses with less than 40 students enrolled will be taught face to face. All courses are taught online. ※This scheme is subject to change. ※As of September 2021, we are under Level 4 distancing measures. DANKOOK UNIVERSITY STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM ACCOMMODATION · All incoming exchange students are required to live on campus. · Students will be automatically placed in a double-occupancy room at the on-campus dormitory, Woongbi Hall, without going through an additional application process. · Each room is furnished with 2 single beds, bedding, desks, chairs, wardrobes, a telephone, internet connection, and a private bathroom. Woongbi Hall, Jukjeon Campus Danwoo Hall, Cheonan Campus DANKOOK UNIVERSITY STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM LANGUAGE TUTORING PROGRAM The Language Tutoring Program (LTP) is designed to connect foreign students with Dankook students and provide a venue for exchanging language and culture. If selected as a tutor, exchange students will have a small group of 5 Dankook students as their tutees and give them a three-hour conversation class every week. Through this program, students will not only have experience of teaching their language, but also be given opportunities to get acquainted with more Dankook students and involved with the Korean school life. Upon successful completion, tutor students will be awarded a free on-campus accommodation for the semester. Eligibility · An exchange student whose native language is one of the following: English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Portuguese and Mongolian. A non-native speaker may also apply, but you need to make sure that you are very fluent in both written and spoken in the language that you want to apply for. · An exchange student who is enthusiastic about teaching languages and exchanging culture with Korean students. How to Apply · Students will need to submit a short self-introduction video. In the video, you should include, but not limited to: why you are applying for this program, how you plan to lead your tutoring class, what you hope to learn through the program, etc. The duration of video should be less than 2 minutes. · More information about applications will be given after acceptance to the exchange program. But here are some examples of what things cost: · Restaurant : 3,000~7,000 won (on-campus) / 7,000~15,000 won (off-campus) · Public Transportation to Seoul : approx. 2,400 won (one way) · A bottle of water : 1,000 won · Starbucks tall size Americano : 4,100 won · McDonald’s Big Mac set : 6,400 won · Bread or buns in a bakery : 2,000~5,000won · Movie at theater : 9,000won (varies depending on time/date)
